Take the Find My Past #TreeChallenge

I’m going to take the challenge and you can too!  I’ve uploaded a Gedcom file of my family tree to Findmypast to see if I can discover new ancestors with their MyHints feature.

From May 23 to 30th, all 1.8 billion records included in the MyHint feature will be available for FREE. This include over 116 million United States Marriages, over 10 million Irish Catholic parish register, and 570 million UK births, marriages, and deaths.

Here’s how to participate:

  • Upload your tree or start a new one on FindMyPast. It’s easy, quick and secure.  It took under eight minutes to upload my Gedcom. They never share your tree or data with anyone else.  Start adding new information and FMP does the work sifting through records to find possible matches.
  • Share any discoveries you make on your tree via social media with the hashtag #TreeChallenge.  Each share enters you into the drawing for a $1000 expert bundle including a 64 GB iPad mini4, a three TB hard drive and a 12 month subscription to Family Tree Magazine.  Each day someone will win a 12 month world subscription on FindMyPast’s social media channels.

As soon as my Gedcom uploaded, new hints appeared on my tree.  Can’t wait to see them. I’ll post them on Facebook and Twitter.
