CAGGNI – GeneaQuest 2016

Details are now here on Maureen’s talks at this year’s GeneaQuest, sponsored by the Computer-Assisted Genealogy Group of Northern Illinois, held in Schaumburg, IL. Her schedule and talks are as follows:
1A (9:00–10:00 a.m.) Maureen Taylor – Solving the Unsolvable: Genealogical Clues in 19th Century Photos. Never underestimate the power of a single photo to lead to new discoveries. Pictures document births, deaths, marriages and additional clues.
2A (10:30–11:30 a.m.) Maureen Taylor – Photo Detecting 101: Photo Identification Tips and Techniques. Learn ten easy steps to help identify individuals in photographs such as researching photographers, dating costume clues and comparing facial characteristics.
3A (1:00–2:00 p.m.) Maureen Taylor – Right or Wrong: Six Things You Need to Know About Picture Sharing Online. It seems easy. Upload, post and share. Yet there are pitfalls of permissions, resolution, and re-use. This seminar takes you through the steps of resolution rules, dangers of right click copying, the ethics and safety of picture sharing, popular photo sharing platforms, and citing sources of your photos.
4A (2:30–3:30 p.m.) Maureen Taylor – Looking Beyond Google: Picture Research for Genealogists and History Buffs. Learn a few basic image search techniques to add new photographs to your family album or locate images for blogs and print publications.

Individual Photo Consults
Maureen has a small number of slots available for one-on-one photo consults for anyone who attends that has a family photo mystery. Appointments cost $40 for 15 minutes, and allow up to three photos to be identified. For details, click on this link, CAGGNI GeneaQuest Photo Consults.
